Experienced Female Youth Worker

We are looking for female youth worker to support a 12 week project which will start after lockdown.

You will be part of an amazing team who have excellent experience and skills. You will be supporting the facilitators with the delivery of a youth programme that aims to engage and empower young people. These sessions will be every Monday from 6 – 8.30pm.

Art Positivity Competition

Summer is here and the lock down is being wound down.

So it’s time to unleash your creativity and celebrate with a burst of positivity.

Art Positivity is a competition that the Worlds End and Lots Road Big Local is hosting for local kids from ages 5 to 16?

We are hoping to run this every year when Summer comes around.

The theme for this year is Things that make us feel happy.

Just think of the local spaces or people that matter to you. Think about why you love them, why they inspire you, and how they could be celebrated with art.

Entering is easy.

All you have to do is create a piece of art using paint, crayons, sharpies, chalk, ink, collages, tissue prints, stencils, paper weaving, or whatever…

Once your artwork is complete, you can either drop it into the hub (Unit 8, Worlds End Place, Worlds End Estate, London, SW10 0HE), through the letterbox in an envelope, or you could take a picture and email it vanessa@welr.org.uk. Entries must include your name, address & age on the back of the drawing, or in the email.


1st prize: £50.00 voucher
2nd prize: £30.00 voucher
3rd prize: £10.00 voucher

Every entry will receive a consultation prize of colouring pens or pencils plus all entries will be displayed in the hub on the wall.

The competition is open to:

  1. Local residents
  2. At least 5 years and under 17 years old on the first of June 2020.

The rules

  1. Your artwork can be in any medium and of any size, for example you may choose to use, painting, drawing, digital design, textiles or collage.
  2. One entry per child.
  3. All entries must be sent to the Big local via drop off or digitally.

We have moved our youth sessions online!

Every Tuesday and Friday between 3 – 4.30pm our young people join us via zoom. These sessions consist of quizzes, debates, keep fit & more.

It is great to see how they are all doing at this strange time.

Hub Closure

As many of you will know, due to government advice we are closed at the present time.

We are updating our social media daily and are looking forward to seeing you all again soon.

We have made donations to – AGE UK, The Salvation Army and Shelter to support the amazing projects they are delivering at this worrying time!

Computer & Internet Access Sessions

We will be restarting these from Friday 24th July 2020

Sessions will be from 11.00 – 13.00.

You will be able to use a laptop to – Look for employment, type up a CV, Go online to sort out benefits etc…. Social media is blocked!

Please contact us prior so we can allocate a laptop for you to use.

So it is that time of year where we begin to think about our annual seaside trip! This year we will be going on Saturday 11th July and we will book 2 coaches, 1 for adults and 1 for families so that children can also benefit from a seaside trip!

We have been to Brighton and Southend and are now going to Margate…
We will offer 50 spaces on each coach, 35 for residents and 15 places for non residents. The price will be the same as before £10.00 residents & £15.00 non residents and £5.00 for children & special rates for families of 4 or more..

WELR Big Local is a lottery funded project which has £1 million to spend over 10 years on activities that the local community have decided are important to them.
Location: Chelsea
Responsible to: Project Manager
Salary: £9,142.86 (this is the pro rata salary of the full-time level of £20,000
Hours: 16 hours per week, over 4 days
Leave: Pro rata 25 days holiday per annum plus bank holidays
This position will be for a 12-month contract subject to a 3-month probationary period, with the view to extend after this point.
About the role
We are looking for a Junior Project/Outreach Worker to support our Big Local Manager and our other Project Worker in researching projects, general office duties, outreach and the day to day running of WELR Big Local. Our projects are based around our priority areas.
